I know it's been over a month since I last posted. Hope to get back into the habit soon. I separated with my husband at the beginning of July and things have been all over the show emotion wise. The split is very amicable though so that is one blessing.

So I am now back to being a single Mum, which even if I do say myself, I am good at! The children and I are fine and happy. All I need now is my financial situation remedied and then I have no worries.

Knitting wise I have been knitting Luke a hooded sweater. I have just finished the front so just the sleeves and hood to go now. I dislike sleeves they just seem to go on forever. I will get on with it though as Luke helped choose the pattern and wool so it would be nice if he gets to wear it before he gets to big for it.

Hoping to sort out some pictures for you later tonight if I get the time. I found Luke sat in the tumble dryer yesterday LOL The dryer is in the shed and I was about to load it up and realised he was sat in there cross legged * shakes head with wonder and smiles* So just like any other mother *coughs* I told him to wait there and took a photo before telling him to get out ;o)

Another thing that happened last Sunday was our 2 male guinea pigs produced 3 baby guinea pigs. We bought a new male friend for our male pig 3 months ago as one of ours had died. I looked out last Sunday and was a little shocked. Within minutes I was laughing and actually know my best friend wanted some guinea pigs so problem solved. Luke is keeping one and my friend is having the other 2.

1. knitting, sure it's a sport the yarnharlot has an olympic event and so does the tour de force right!
2. Bowls, DH plays this and after a game or 2 and watching many matches I am eager to start this more regualy.
3. Been years now but I used to really enjoy playing basketball

8. Ice skating, Those events on TV really amaze me watching what a person can do on ice on a pair of blades.

I'm still working slowly on my simple ribbed socks. Got about 4 inches left to do. I just seem to be on a go slow atm. I am enjoying the process but easily distracted. Should hopefully finish them today and then start on a new project or 2.

Need to work out gauge for Luke's socks he wants. He chose a rather neon coloured striped ball of regia yarn for these socks, fortunately I bought new sunglasses the other week LOL

A little late but thought I would give it a go

EZ inspiration

Look what arrived via the post today. There is so much to want to do in this wonderful book. EZ really amazes me with the way she thought these things out. Can't wait to dive in and knit lots of cool things. Had a quick read through and don't know where to start. The beginning maybe??

I do know I want to knit a couple of ribwarmers for my Mum and Great Aunt so that may be a good start once I find the right yarn :o)

Doctors visit went fine. I do indeed have the dreaded virus going around at the moment. Apparently it's a bit of a harsh one which is why I keep falling asleep everywhere. I knitted while waiting for my appointment and as Gary told me the doctor was calling my name and not to drop a stitch I of course dropped and stitch and went into her office mumbling about picking it up before I was with her LOL

The school has a Bingo night now and again to raise funds for the school. Went along with my friend and even though I never won any bingo prizes I did win a magnum of champagne in the the raffle :o) I'm saving it to toast my daughters 18th birthday on the 9th July. Where oh where did the years go???

Interesting this is as it kind of hits home. Things here are moving slowly along lately and I really need a kick up the rear end to get going again. I am in a bored phase and need something to throw myself into to keep me out of trouble if that is at all possible LOL.

Been a bit sickly since Saturday and I guess with it being Wednesday I really ought to go and see a DR. tomorrow. I know it's a virus as a lot of kids are off school with it atm. Not a lot the DR. can do but better safe than sorry to be checked at least.

Knitting wise I am working on a pair of purple/blue socks and need to get a few other projects finished and out the way. DH has the knitting bug well and truly lately and has finished 2 hats for Luke in a fortnight. I'm really impressed with him and his hats :o)

I started this 4 eveneings ago and finished it just before midnight last night. Skull Isle hat from the SnB book for mens crochet and knit patterns. I have lost count how many times Luke tried to try this on while on dpns and I had to pick up stitches more times than I can remember.

I think my problem is going to be stopping him from wearing this in our English summer time. Had a problem getting him to pose for photos at first until I told him his Nanny wanted to see him and his new hat, and that I would email them to her which I did :o) Then he was more than helpful :o)

Finished mt birthday socks and will take pictures after I've washed them again. They fit so well I've been wearing them a lot :o)

Nearly there

Earlier on this evening I finished knitting up the cardigan I have been working on :o) I've sewn half of it together and will finished sewing up tomorrow. Then I will be left with the crochet around the edges. Which is the bit that is worrying me a little. But in true me style will dive in and hoe for the best. I have finished one sock for my birthday socks and need to cast on the second one. Promised a friend a pair for the Australian winter so need to finish mine before I start on hers.

We are off out tomorrow to look around for a new guinea pig. One of ours died a little while back and of course the other is seeming to be a little lonely so it's time we got her a new partner.

Kids are on half term and the weather is not exactly kid friendly for them to play outside. Luke at 5 is happy to be outside in all weathers but I'm not. We did have a friends children visiting yesterday so Luke was happy. They will be visiting again Friday morning and I agreed we could make pizza for their lunch. I think their Mum is glad she's off to work LOL. I tend to love the mess and creativity that goes with working with the children but my friend isn't as keen as me ;) So I get to have all the fun, the kids have fun and she will have happy kids when she picks them up. Smiles all round I think.

The weekend

My friend and I went to an Elvis night at a pub last night. According to everyone I spoke to this man sounds amazingly like Elvis. I've known my friend Julie for just under 25 years and she has always kept quiet about her love for Elvis. At one point she was singing with him and threatening to take him home with her LOL Due to knowing the pub management we also got to meet him after he had finished and have our photo taken with him :o) Apparently today there was a lot of jealousy in the pub by the ladies who found out we had him all to ourselves in the kitchen for 10 minutes LOL

Knitting wise my sock is coming along slowly but is also coming along nicely :o) The colours are a bit darker in real light. I almost had a heart attack this morning when I realised my sock and yarn where on the floor with a lot of the yarn unravelled. Then nearly died of shock when I realised that the unravelled bit was cut off and 2 needles had been pulled out *gasps* Fortunately though all was OK and I just have a couple of ends to weave in and didn't have to frog the sock back at all.

Now I know my youngest son is a charmer but he's getting very cheeky with it to. When Julie came round last night she offered to give him 50 pence on Monday if he would be good going to bed and today. Little monkey looks up at her and said 'Make it a £1 and I will give you a kiss as well' And he got the £1 coin to!! Mind you as Luke's godmother I think she is easily won over with him :o)

Yes we found it. It was upstairs in a drawer our youngest gets into when he in a sticker mood. It's the drawer I keep my scrapbook stickers in! But not before Gary broke into the shed. As Murphys law would have it it turned up that night.

Nothing lost since then *touch wood* But the Gary and I are very good at finding logical safe places for things and then not being able to find them again lol.

Time flies when you're having fun

Suddenly realised how long it's been since I posted here! Thought I better update a little. The past week up until today has been gloriously hot and sunny here in the south of England. I have spent time outside in various places and enjoying the weather for once. Today it's cooler and light rains but we needed it

My knitting is coming along slowly, managed both fronts of my cardigan but when I got to the first sleeve one of the wooden ends on my knitpicks harmony needles came off. Will email the company I got them from tomorrow and see what they say. So far I have been delighted with the set so hopefully they will make this problem good without to much fuss. My scarf is double it's length and I caved in and started a pair of socks
with Regia Design Line yarn.

Few photos for you all. The other day I was grinding spices for the dinner I was cooking and Luke took great interest in the pestle and mortar, so I put a small amount of brown rice in there and got him out in the garden to give it a go. Took him a while but he managed to pulverise that rice to a powder :o) Don't you just love that look of concentration on his face?

Last Friday we had a visitor, My daughters boyfriends dog Ebony. Lovely little bundle of a dog, but it takes to long to walk her everywhere with everyone stopping us for questions or to stroke Ebony. She doesn't look to happy being perched up on the side by Leanne to take a photo, before she went home, does she?

Last picture is our dopey cat Bailey. Not to sure what got into him this morning but he stayed like that for a good 10 minutes. I was almost certain by the time I got the camera out he would of moved but he never.

Got a fairly busy day tomorrow but will try to get back to blog photos of my knitting progress if I can.

Today has been a wonderful warm day and I spent a few hours outside knitting and watching Gary play bowls. Not being used to spending so much time in the sun I slept ( read crashed out there lol) for over 2 hours this afternoon.

Finished the back of my cardigan which is great :o) Was approached by a few people at the bowls club about my knitting and had some lovely chats. Although I fail to see how such a big piece looks like a scarf. But it was nice to get the comments and friendly conversations.

The colours are way off in the cardigan photo. It's a deeper darker red with a variegated single ply running through it. In real life the 'stripes' don't show up half as much as they do in this photo.

The scarf is being knitted up in Opal Lollipop sock wool. Considering how fine the yarn is it's knitting up quite fast for an in between project.

I am itching to cast on a new pair of socks but I know if I do I will end up not working on the 2 projects I have on the needles until I have finished the socks so I am holding out as long as possible.

Just got around to downloading this video from my camera. Luke is playing bowls with Gary. The poor kids hands aren't really big enough but he had a great time :o) Just hope nobody metions the dents in the green when we go tomorrow lol I think he dropped that many woods I lost count.

May the 4th be with you ;o) Big day in our house with a few of us being big fans of the first trilogy.

Remember I said I lost my camera then my phone? Well found those no problem but now the shed door key is missing. We use the shed a few times a week as there is my chest freezer in there and also the tumble dryer. Of course not having the key means we needed to get in there 4 times today and are out of luck. Gary says if it's not found in a few days he will have to somehow take the lock off from the outside and put a new lock on. All well and good but guess where the tools are? Yes you've guessed it in the shed lol. These things are sent to try us and fortunately we do see the funny side to them.

On Friday I delivered to my Mum a pair of socks I had knitted for my Uncle. Which is when I discovered I had lost my camera and didn't have enough batteries for the other one. So long story short no photos sadly. Goodness that man has big feet! I used a whole 100 gram skein of trekking yarn and still had to finish the toes off in a different colour as I was left with a few inches after I had weaved in the ends.

I've been working on a new project (photos tomorrow hopefully) The go everywhere go with anything cardigan by Laura Jean Bernhardson from the stich 'n bitch book. I read a few reviews on ravelry about the endless stocking stitch getting boring really fast and in a way I agree but it's so easy to do anywhere without having to concentrate, which helps a lot when the kids are demanding to know everything from 'when are you cooking dinner?' to 'what's that noise?' I am alternating it with a sock it to me scarf. Pictures of both tomorrow hopefully. The what's that noise question is one of 5 year olds favourite as he knows I can't hear a blooming thing so he finds it hilarious to keep asking me what the noise is LOL

There's a May day fete in our village tomorrow so should be fun, and I am hoping the jewellery maker is there again as I bought a lovely pair of earrings from her last time :o)

Saturdays Adventures

Pretty much a bad photo but this is my version of S'n B's Skully sweater. Didn't take to long to knit and I love the shade of purple it is. Colour doesn't show up to well here. Unfortunately the weather is getting to warm to wear it now but it will be ready for later in the year :o)

This year I also participated on the yahoo group yarnsmackdown. I only got as far as the second round but was really happy with the hats I got back from it. The idea was we were put in rounds and given a hat pattern on the day and had to knit it up and post it off to our partner. Whoever got their hat first had died and the person left living was carried on through to the next round. I forgot to take pics of my first hat but managed to remember to photograph round 2's hat. I knitted it up in Eco wool and look forward to trying the Eco wool out on a bigger garment sometime soon.

Today has been a great day weather wise and we took our youngest out to the bowls club open day. My husband is a member and Luke was so excited to get to go and have a go himself on a real green to 'fire one off' He behaved remarkably well and as usual charmed the ladies around him LOL There was a stall selling plants and off he went with the money to buy 2 tomato plants. He had to get a ladies attention to get served but he did it without being loud and was extremly polite. The lady was that taken with him she gave him his own tomato plant so we came home with 3 in the end.

When we left Luke said he wuld like to say goodbye to the ladies in the kitchen as he liked them and came away with Jaffa cakes and a big smile.

Spent a few hours in the local pub garden this afternoon and you could really tell Luke was tired but he insisted on staying, mainly due to the bouncy castle that was put up. So Luke played and I had a lovely time basking in the sunshine, knitting away on my cardigan and sipping away at vodka and coke :o)

The only downer on the day was that after taking a few pictures and a short video of Luke and Gary playing bowls the camera batteries died as Gary attempted to take some photos of me bowling. Having bought a new bag yesterday ( with more room for the essentials like laptop and knitting) I forgot to make sure it was loaded up with spare batteries grrrr. But just a small thing which I wouldn't let ruin the day.

Now I'm off to see if I can find my mobile phone ( lost the camera yesterday so must be having a lose everything weekend) and watch the past couple of days of the Great British Menu.

Today is my birthday so I thought it was about time I got on with this blog instead of just thinking about it. I had a blog over on yahoo360 but can't seem to post over there in a long while now. So decided to move over to here :o)

I have been thoroughly spoilt today. First Gary ( my dear husband) took me for a drive fore some birthday sock yarn, yarn for a hat for DS aged 5. And yarn for a cardigan for me. When we got home there was a big package waiting for me with cheese and traffic jam in it. The traffic jam is named for its layers of strawberry, apricot and gooseberry jam. DS, Luke I think has this idea it's for him but luckily I'm willing to share ;o)

Then low and behold I popped out for half an hour and came home to a plant delivered on behalf of an online group I belong to :o) What a lovely day.

Managed to download a few pictures of some knitted FO ( finished objects) and will try to post these tomorrow as I am off out soon.
